Craft Applied: a fast studio site for digital products.
A rebuild of the Craft Applied site with faster pages, clearer services, and an easier setup for publishing work and writing.
Context
Craft Applied needed a site that matched how the studio works: careful, accessible, and performance-minded. Prospective clients needed to understand what the team does and see enough proof to decide whether to start a conversation.
The old site was carrying too much at once. Services, selected work, writing, contact paths, and credibility all needed clearer places to live.
What I built
I built the v4 site with Astro. Most pages ship as static HTML, with SolidJS islands only where the interaction needs it.
- Astro for fast static delivery and a simpler content model.
- SolidJS islands for focused interactivity without extra JavaScript on every page.
- A Tailwind UI kit for reusable components and consistent spacing, type, and color.
- Plausible analytics for lightweight, privacy-friendly traffic insight.
- Accessibility and performance checks folded into the design and build work.
Result
The new site is faster and easier to maintain. It explains the studio’s services, gives selected work room to breathe, and gives the team a better base for new case studies and writing.
It stays out of the way, which was the point: clear structure, readable pages, and fewer moving parts.
